Fall is just around the corner which means that it may be time to switch up your workout routine. Now that the days are getting shorter and the weather is getting cooler, it’s good to have a workout to do when the weather gets a little hairy; like on a rainy fall day. To ensure that you don’t miss a beat and skip a day of working out, try doing these three rainy day workouts. Read on to learn more.
7-Minute Workout
Rather than going on a jog outside for your cardio, skip the rain altogether and try doing a 7-minute workout from the comfort of your living room. Designed around high-intensity interval training, 7-minute workouts help to get your heart rate up fast and keep it at an elevated pace for the entire seven minutes— burning more fat and calories in the process.
Body Weight
Just because it’s rainy outside, it doesn’t give you an excuse to skip out on your weights. If you want to ditch the bad weather and stay dry inside, try doing bodyweight workouts. For instance, push ups and triceps dips are two great body weight work outs to help you tone up your arms without ever having to lift a single weight.
Jump Rope
Nothing will condition you quite like using a jump rope for pre-weightlifting warm up. And, as long as you have a jump rope lying around the house, you won’t have to wander in the rain to use it. When jumping rope, try to do fast, repetitive movements— this will help you do more in a smaller amount of time.
This fall, make sure you stay up on all of your workouts— even if it’s raining outside— by using the three tips listed above. If you would like to learn more about how you can tone up and take care of your body, contact Dr. Rick Silverman or call (617) 965-9500.
